Women in textile mill (Kyle Sjoberg)

I believe that we should not move jobs over seas. Even though you may think that this will create more job opportunities, it will only make it worse. If there are less people for the jobs in the factories then there would be less production of the goods. If there are less goods produced then the prices will be raised for the few products to be bought by the citizens in the city. I already have a job here. I would not want to change out over seas. I would rather stay here with the bad living conditions then go out and get a new job. If they sent me somewhere else I wouldn't be happy. Maybe I would be hired by a coal miner and he would pay us women less then men. The conditions would be worse then the textile mill and we would be in more danger then in the textile mill. I would want to stay with my family here to provide and support them with the job I currently have.

I disagree with you completely. Shifting jobs overseas will create more job opportunities and benefit the economy and people like you. There won't be less people for jobs! As of now the population is growing at an alarming rate to a point where I don't think our resources will be enough to support everyone. By creating more jobs overseas for our rapid growing population the production rate of goods will increase. When the production of goods increases then the prices of those goods will go down so more people can afford to buy them. As more people buy goods the better the economy will be because the money of the people will be going into it. You could stay in Britain it won't be you who has to go overseas specially. As people go overseas your bad living conditions will improve! As some people begin to move overseas there will be more living space for people like you. It would be your choice to work overseas or not. The idea of shifting jobs overseas is a great one.

I completely agree with you. There is no need for our government to shift jobs overseas. The movement of people would affect many of the factories and coal mines in our own country. Currently, the entire country is boasting with the mass production of goods. If many people were to move overseas, the people that would stay in our country would suffer greatly. It would also be hard to convince workers to move overseas because they are all already employed. The hassle to move to the other side of the world is difficult and an inconvenience. Even though I work in a coal mine all day, I know exactly that with the wages we are all earning, it is enough to provide for our own family. We are happy in our current state despite the rough work conditions. What if my family and I moved overseas and the working condition there were worse than here? What would I do then? My family and I would suffer greatly.

Yes!! You are completely correct! If only everyone agreed with this. However, it is important to think about all the people. For example, not only will this make working conditions worse for laborers, it will create an even larger gap in the social class. There is already a big difference between the life of the upper classes and the lower classes, how is it fair to only benefit the upper class. Some people may be thinking, how would this benefit our economy? Well, it could lead to the poor becoming more wealthy which would definitely help our economy. This would also save the country less money because we wouldn't have to spend our money on the things we need to get people overseas. So it would only raise the amount of money that our government has. So why not focus on the citizens? It could lead to beneficial results to our economy and our nation as a whole. Therefore, shifting jobs overseas is unnecessary.

I definitely disagree with you! You say that there will be less production of good because there are less workers. Also, you state that this would cause the price of goods to rise. But, you have to look at it from the other side, one that is more logical. If people move overseas to create goods, then the factories that are here will not be needed anymore. The more factories that open up overseas, the less factories that are needed in our own country. And, since the goods are produced at a lower cost, they will sell at a lower cost too! So how could you possibly say that jobs overseas will bring the cost of goods up? The answer is that you can't; you are very close-minded and are thinking about your own family. But, you must think about the entire population and the economy. You will begin to agree with me after weighing the benefits and loses. Remember, moving jobs overseas will create a better economy due to lower costs of goods to everyone.
