Adam Smith (Julian Wu)

I believe this Industrial Revolution definitely impacted all of Europe's citizens in a positive way. The first thing I would like to mention is Laissez-faire. Laissez-faire directly translates to "let do" and encourages less government management and more individual management. This Industrial Revolution helped so many business owners set their own regulations and start their own businesses. These owners will actually enjoy their job instead of having the government put them into a job they dislike. Also, customers will be satisfied with these owners. This benefits all Europe's citizens because customers will be more satisfied with the owners. Competition will emerge too, which will set a standard price of the products depending on the demands on the general public. This directly relates to the idea of supply and demand. By having these new machines, such as the steam engine, goods can be mass produced. However, these machines need laborers to run them! This provides many job opportunities to the working class in the city. These goods will be quick and efficient, benefiting everyone who wants to buy these products. This is why the Industrial Revolution clearly impacted all of Europe's citizens in a positive way.

There is no way that everyone was affected by the Industrial Revolution in a positive way. Everyone includes all people on Earth. What about the children? The children are worked incredibly hard. They just get worked and worked until they can work no longer. Being a kid does not cut them any slack. I have seen a lot of people overworked in my time. It happens all of the time, but this Industrial Revolution is now overworking kids. It is not right. It affected these children in the most negative way possible. This is not how children should be treated. The Industrial Revolution did not affect all people in a positive way. I have seen a lot in my factory days, but the way these poor children are treated is a completely different story.

    1. The children are also benefiting! Although their life seems harsh, their life conditions are still improving nonetheless! These overworked people are all benefiting the majority. These children are making the economy so much better by working these hard long hours. If you compare the lives of these children to what they would be before this Industrial Revolution, the suffering they go through is much worse. This is why the Industrial Revolution affected everyone in a positive way.

You say that the Industrial Revolution benefited many business owners. What about the others who were farmers? Fishermen? There can only be so many business owners in a society, or none of them will have anyone to employ. Plus, a society needs people to provide food and keep them ALIVE. I had a job before the revolution. I worked hard, without rules or regulations, because I knew that messing up my work would not only lower my profits, but end up harming my family as well. Why force us into cities to work long hours for little pay, taking our freedom? If the system isn't broken, don't try to "fix" it.

  3. Adam Smith (Sarah Schumacher) Yes! Thank God you agree with me! These people who are complaining are simply ungrateful, they mustn't remember what times were like prior to the Revolution! Now, if you think back, I think things are a HELL OF A LOT better for all of us!
