David Ricardo (Kyle Riggs)

Finally someone has a good plan! Of course it would benefit the economy to send jobs overseas! This would be more profitable for all business owners and entrepreneurs. Cheaper labor costs would mean substantially less expenses for business owners, increasing revenue. How can anyone be against an increase in country revenue? Rich business owners would be great for our economy! They would start more jobs in our country and buy lots of goods. In addition, saving our natural resources would be very beneficial in the long term for us. If a time came when we could no longer use foreign resources, our homeland would still have a surplus of them. All anyone is talking about nowadays, are those stupid workers rights laws. This is the best of both worlds here; the business owners don't have to spend more money, and our workers don't have to deal with crowded factories or mills anymore. Some workers may lose money from the lack of a job, but if they simply worked harder and were smarter with their money, they would be fine.

What do you expect me to do!?!? Carrying out this plan leaves me unemployed and unable to find work. Sending the jobs out of the country will destroy the economy and destroy the working class citizens like me. We will all starve and die.

You speak through a very single sided view. The country will hardly be destroyed if we send jobs overseas. Quite the opposite in fact. As I previously stated, doing this would increase the wealth of the people who drive our economy. Increasing our economy would result in lower prices for goods that the working class heavily purchases. I assume that you have many siblings, perhaps if you parents did not have such a big family, you could have a much higher quality of life. in conclusion, I ask you to think back to the time before the Industrial Revolution. Were there not jobs back then? A coal mine is no place for a little boy, so in a way this change is actually benefitting you in the long term.

I agree with the coal miner because it would leave us unemployed. We would have no job and we would have to defend ourselves. Many people would lose their jobs and trust me we would rebel. We don't want to starve to death so why can't we just stick with what we are doing. We are ahead in the industrial revolution so we should just keep this going. We all want to live even if we are getting s,all wages then we can at least buy food instead of having to steal.

Are you crazy? That is not at all the best plan. Yes, it will help businessmen and entrepreneurs, but those are not the people that need help! The factory workers, and miners need the help. Entrepreneurs and businessmen already have enough money! We work long hours, and we don't even get paid that much. If jobs were sent overseas, I would not have a job. Tons and tons of people would not have jobs. Have you even thought about that? Of course you haven't because the only people you care about are businessmen and entrepreneurs. Get your priorities straight! Clearly, shifting jobs overseas is not a good plan.

Sending jobs overseas will benefit the bourgeois, but definitely not the proletariat class. Using up other countries' resources to preserve our own is smart, but it doesn't seem right to me. Why can't everything just be shared amongst us all? Obviously if you are part of the prosperous bourgeois, workers losing their jobs will not matter much to you. But if you are a worker who needs to support a family, you will surely starve with no way to make money. These workers may be uneducated, which would make them unable to manage their money more wisely.

  5. Thank you Karl. You have brought up some great points. Sending jobs would be extremely beneficial to the bourgeoisie. The only problem is that we have to think for the greater good here people. The main problem with this is that the majority of the population isn't benefitting from this idea of jobs over sea.

Ricardo. Look around you! These comments are from people who have to support themselves, the same as anyone else. If you follow through with this plan, you will only make a few people richer, and those few are like the corrupt and depraved nobles in my homeland, the people we had to overthrow. This plan will only increase discontent among the majority and when that happens... well... you might want to focus more on "those stupid workers' rights laws" while they still work for you. Just a thought. Do not underestimate the people.

Listen to yourself Ricardo; you talk as though you were a king. A slave owner looks at his slaves as a means to make money and get work done. A business man, such as yourself, would not mind cutting the wages of hundreds of workers to get a little extra change in his pocket. Do you not see the similarity? You treat your workers as if they were pawns to your master plan but they are not. The values of your workers lives are equally as important as yours, you need to open your eyes and see that.
