Woman (Katharine Yan)

Barbaric, bloodthirsty screams pierced the air of the Parisian streets. I stood frozen in horror as these monstrous events unfolded before my eyes. A fiery mob had attacked a nearby prison, full of nobles and priests, and was savagely killing them. I could sense the fear that these radicals had of counter-revolutionary uprisings. However, there was absolutely no need to take such drastic measures to ensure that the revolution was not threatened. Some of the prisoners weren’t even of the nobility. They were just ordinary citizens, who might have supported the revolution for all we know. But that didn’t stop the crazed mob from terrorizing these prisoners. I could not bear to watch as my fellow women were attacked and killed by the merciless crowd. This revolution has simply gotten out of hand. The radicals need to take a step back and consider what truly is and is not good for France. Until then, no one, neither men nor women, is safe.
